Pat Pecora's Mountain Cat wrestlers, who finished the dual meet season at 12-3 and claimed the program's third straight PSAC Dual Meet Championship, climbed five spots from 11th into a tie for sixth in this year's final regular season NWCA National Rankings. Five Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers are individually ranked, including All-American
Cody Law, the top-ranked wrestler at 157 lbs., and
Chris Eddins, who is ranked second at 141 lbs.
Two-time defending National Champion St. Cloud State (Minn.) is ranked first with 94 team points. Notre Dame (OH) (81 pts.), Wisconsin-Parkside (62 pts.), California Baptist (60 pts.), and Colorado State-Pueblo (54 pts.) round out the top-five. Pitt-Johnstown and Upper Iowa are tie for sixth with 53 team points.
Individually, Law moved from second to the top-spot at 157 lbs. with a 17-1 overall record and a 13-1 mark in dual meets. Eddins (18-1, 14-0 duals) climbed two spots to second at 141 lbs., while
Levi Niebauer (14-2, 11-1 duals) is up to fifth from seventh at 197 lbs. In addition,
Devin Austin (14-5, 11-5 duals) rejoined the rankings in the No. 9 spot at 165 lbs., and
Brendan Howard (5-3, 5-3 duals) made his first appearance in the rankings. Howard is 10th at 125 lbs.
