Stacey Walling's RBI double gave Pitt-Johnstown an early lead, but Cedarville rallied for three runs in the sixth inning and went on to a 4-2 victory over the Cats, Monday evening in Clermont, Fla. Pitt-Johnstown is now 0-4.
Pitt-Johnstown opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second.
Taylor Hoover lead-off with a single and came around to score on Walling's double down the left field line.
Cedarville answered with three runs in the top of the sixth on RBI singles by Sarah Parsons and Danae Fields and a run-scoring double from Jessica Steger.
Pitt-Johnstown cut it to 3-2 in its half of the sixth on
Jade Stubblefield's sacrifice fly that scored
Bree Ginther, but the Lady Jackets got that run right back on Parsons' sacrifice fly in the seventh and Cedarville went on to the 4-2 victory.
Walling had a double and an RBI to lead Pitt-Johnstown, while
Morgan Cannin,
McKenna Kern, and Hoover all added hits for the Cats.
Melissa Wagner took the loss in the circle for Pitt-Johnstown and slipped to 0-2. Wagner pitched a complete-game and gave up four runs on six hits, while striking out three and walking one.
With the win, the Lady Jackets improved to 6-4.
After taking Tuesday and Wednesday off, Pitt-Johnstown will continue its Spring Trip in Clermont, Fla. with games against the University of the Sciences and St. Cloud State (Minn.) on Thursday.
