
The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats softball team defeated Ursuline College Arrows, 6-3 Friday morning in Clermont, Fla. The Mountain Cats improved to 2-5 on the season, whereas the Arrows fell to 2-6.

The Mountain Cats opened up the scoring in the top of the first inning when
Taylor Hoover brought home
Morgan Cannin on a RBI single to left field.

Ursuline answered in the bottom of the second for two runs when Sadie Jones singled to center field. The Mountain Cats tied it up in the fourth inning when
McKenna Kern blasted a solo home run over the center field wall.

The Mountain Cats added four runs in the fifth inning. It started with Hoover scoring on an
Ali Belgiovane groundout. Kern,
Amanda O'Toole and
Ashley Shor added RBI doubles to give the Mountain Cats a 6-2 lead.

Ursuline's Brooklyn Miller hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 6-3.

The Mountain Cats offensively were led by Cannin who went 5-for-4 and
McKenna Kern who finished the day 3-for-3 with a home run.

Kristen Coffay earned the complete game win for the Mountain Cats in the circle. She allowed three-earned runs while scattering five hits and striking out 11 Arrows' batters.

The Mountain Cats return to action Saturday Morning when they take on Merrimack (Ma) College and Hillsdale (MI) College, before going on the road against Gannon University March 17.
