Pitt-Johnstown Drops final two games against Cal

Johnstown, PA

5459The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats baseball team dropped games three and four of a four game series against the California (Pa.) Vulcans Saturday afternoon at the Point Stadium. The Mountain Cats fell to 6-15 overall and 3-5 in the PSAC West. California (Pa.) improved to 13-10 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC West.

GAME ONE
The Mountain Cats got on the board first, in the first inning, thanks to a Mason Prickett RBI double and Zach Zinn ground out to make it, 2-0.
California (Pa.) answered for eight runs in the top of the third, highlighted by a Bobby Thompson homerun to left center field.

After a Dan Clark single to center field bringing home Tanner Cook, Scott Thompson made it 8-5 on a double scoring Dylan Kerstetter.
 
Trent Martin got the start for the Mountain Cats and took the loss. Martin pitched 2.1 innings, giving up eight runs, four earned on seven hits and four walks.
Tyler Eritz got the win in relief for the Vulcans. Eritz finished the day pitching 1.2 inning, giving up two runs on three hits and striking out one.
GAME TWO
The Mountain Cats got on the board first again in game two. In the bottom of the first inning, Prickett singled to right center scoring Tyler Smith.
In the top of the third inning Chris Wastchak singled to tie the game at one.

Zinn drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home the Mountain Cats second run. In the top of the fourth inning, Wastchak tripled to right center to make it, 6-2 Vulcans.

The Mountain Cats made it 6-4 in the fourth inning thanks to RBI singles by Smith and Clark.

Dylan Heid got the start and took the loss for the Mountain Cats. Heid pitched 4+ innings giving up five earned runs on six hits and striking out six batters.

California (Pa.) starting pitcher Hunter Robinson earned the win on the mount. Robinson gave up three earned runs on eight hits and struck out five.
Richie Serignese got the three-inning save for the Vulcans. Serignese gave up one run on four hits and struck out one.
The Mountain Cats travel to Slippery Rock Friday before finishing the series Saturday afternoon at the Point Stadium.
