Mountain Cats Drop first Two games against Slippery Rock

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 5462The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats dropped the first two games of a four-game series against Slippery Rock University Friday afternoon at Point Stadium. The Mountain Cats fell to 6-17 and 3-6 in the PSAC West and Slippery Rock improved to 15-7 overall and 8-2 in the PSAC West.
Slippery Rock got on the board first when Abraham Mow hit a home run to left-center field to make it, 1-0.
After the third inning, the Mountain Cats opened up a 3-1 lead thanks to a Zach Zinn double and Dylan Kerstetter single.
Slippery Rock regained the lead in the top of the fourth when Mow singled to make it 4-3.
Tyler Walters hit a three-run homerun to give Slippery Rock the 7-3 lead.
The Mountain Cats battled back to make it 7-6 thanks to a Jack Shirk double.
Joe Campagna put the game away for Slippery Rock when he hit a sacrifice fly to left field to make it, 9-6.
Brady Walker got the start for the Mountain Cats and took the loss. Walker finished with five-innings pitched, giving up seven-earned runs on eight hits and striking out two.
Alex Pantuso got the win for Slippery Rock. Pantuso pitched four innings, giving up five-earned runs on six hits and striking out seven.
GAME TWO
Slippery Rock got on the board first when Chris Porterfield hit a two-run homerun to left field in the third inning. Mow made it 3-0 when singled to left field in the fourth inning.
The Mountain Cats finally got on the score board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Shirk hit a homerun to left-center field.
In the top of the seventh inning, Luca Fuscardo singled up the middle to make it 6-2.
Trent Martin got the start and took the loss for the Mountain Cats. He pitched 3.2 innings, giving up three-earned runs on six hits.
Matt Gordan earned the win for The Rock. Gordan went 6.1 innings, giving up four-earned runs on eight hits and striking out six.
The Mountain Cats return to Home Sunday afternoon when they take on Slippery Rock to close out a four-game series.
