Mountain Cats Split Behind Wagner's Strong Game

Johnstown, PA

5175The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats split a doubleheader at Mansfield University winning game one, 3-1 and dropping game two, 3-9. The Mountain Cats fell to 11-23 overall and 6-12 in the PSAC Central. Mansfield is now 10-14 overall and 6-11 in the PSAC Central.
 
GAME ONE
Mansfield got on the score board first in the third inning when Rachael Sterner reached on an infield single scoring Joelle Snyder.

Pitt-Johnstown would go on to score the next three runs to secure the victory. In the top of the fourth inning, Ali Belgiovane singled through the right side, advancing Sydney Flinn to second base and scoring Taylor Hoover.

The Mountain Cats added another run in the fourth inning when Ashley Shor singled to center field scoring Flinn.

Pitt-Johnstown added an insurance run when Shor singled to center field again, scoring Belgiovane to make it 3-1.Mellissa Wagner got the win in the circle for the Mountain Cats. She pitched a complete game giving up one run, on ten hits and striking out four.

Sierra Storm took the loss for Mansfield. Storm pitched a complete game giving up three runs on nine hits and walking one.

Offensively, the Mountain Cats were led by Shor, who went 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs, and Belgiovane, who went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Game Two
The Mountain Cats fell behind 2-0 after three innings before battling back and tying it after a Jade Stubblefield single to center field and a Montana Mang single to left-center field.

In the fourth inning, Mansfield made it, 5-3 thanks to a Alli McGovern doubled to left-center field. Mansfield made it 6-2 in the fifth inning when Melanie Taylor singled to left-center field.

Pitt-Johnstown added a run in the sixth inning when Bree Ginther singled to right-center field.

Emily Moore took the loss for the Mountain Cats. Moore pitched four innings, giving up four-earned runs on eight hits and striking out two.

Arianna Young got the complete-game win for Mansfield. Young gave up three-earned runs, on ten hits and striking out four.
 
The Mountain Cats close our their season against Indiana (Pa.) with a Senior night doubleheader against Indiana (PA) on Saturday at 5 and 7 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex.
