
Led by
Grace Miller's match-high 11 kills, the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team improved to 3-0 with a 3-sets-to-none sweep over Virginia Union University in Friday's First Round of the Walsh University Tournament in Canton, OH.
After taking the opening set 25-16, Pitt-Johnstown closed out the sweep with 25-20 and 25-13 victories.
Miller finished with 11 kills, two digs, and a block, while
Maura Brehl had six kills and eight digs to pace the Mountain Cats. Pitt-Johnstown also got five kills on 55.6% hitting and three service aces from
Caitlin Vrabel, five kills and a pair of blocks from
Anna Johns, and five killsand four digs from
Noelle Carota.
J.C. Longeville's match-high of 17 set assists and four aces, and
Morgan Yurkovich's 14 assists and three aces led the way for the Mountain Cats, while
Erin Carmody collected a match-high 16 digs in the sweep.
Virginia Union, which fell to 1-4 to begin the season, was led by Jada Starling's nine kills, seven digs, and three blocks, and Kamryn Young's four kills and three blocks.
