
Grand Valley State (MI) University started fast and dealt the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team its first loss of the season with a 25-16, 25-21, 25-19 sweep in Saturday's third round of the Walsh University Tournament in North Canton, OH.
Noelle Carota had a team-high 10 kills for the Mountain Cats, who slipped to 4-1.
Along with her 10 kills, Carota also had three blocks, while
Maura Brehl had seven kills and seven digs,and
Caitlin Vrabel added seven kills for Pitt-Johnstown.
Anna Johns collected a block solo and three block assists, and
Erin Carmody and
Hailey Mackenthun each finished with 12 digs.
J.C. Longeville's 11 set assists and six digs and
Morgan Yurkovich's 10 assists led the way for the Mountain Cats.
Grand Valley State improved to 6-1 on the season behind Staci Brower's match-high 11 kills and Alexandra Thompson's eight kills.
