Women’s Soccer Suffers 1-0 Non-Conference to Wheeling Jesuit

Johnstown, PA

Marley Magruder netted the matches' one goal 23 minutes in to lead Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University to 1-0 non-conference victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Monday afternoon at Richland High School.  The Mountain Cats dropped to 3-4-0.
 
Wheeling Jesuit took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break after Magruder got a takeaway in the box and found the back of the net behind Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Leigh Appolonia in the 23rd minute of play.
 
Asya Carney took care of the rest in goal for the Cardinals, facing seven shots and making three saves to record the shutout.
 
Appolonia suffered the loss for Pitt-Johnstown after allowing the lone goal in the first half.  Appolonia saw 14 Wheeling Jesuit shots and made four saves.
 
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 1-4-0 on the seaso0n.
 
Pitt-Johnstown travels to a PSAC match at nationally-ranked West Chester University on Friday, before hosting a conference match against Mercyhurst University on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
