Fifth-ranked West Chester University collected a goal in each half to remain unbeaten and hand the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team a 2-0 PSAC loss, Friday afternoon in West Chester. The Mountain Cats slipped to 3-5-0 overall and 3-4-0 in conference-play.
Jenny Bail netted the lone goal of the first half in the 30
th minute when she took Priscilla Walsh's throughball in the box and beat Mountain Cat goalkeeper
Leigh Appolonia to give West Chester a 1-0 lead.
The Golden Rams increased it to 2-0 in the 62
nd minute on a Kendall Rich goal and went on to the 2-0 victory.
Appolonia took the loss in net for Pitt-Johnstown after facing 17 shots, making four saves, and allowing both goals in 78 minutes.
Maria Mosquera played the final 12 minutes in net for the Mountain Cats and saw four shots and made three saves.
McKenna Mullin and Brooke Myers combined for the shutout for West Chester. Mullin got the win after facing four shots and making two saves. Myers played the final eight minutes for the Golden Rams.
With the win, West Chester improved to 5-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the PSAC.
The Mountain Cats will host a PSAC matches against Mercyhurst University on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and Clarion University on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before traveling to Slippery Rock for a conference match on October 3.
