First Half Goal Lifts Millersville to 1-0 PSAC Victory Over Women’s Soccer

5047Kay Liebl's goal 36 minutes into the match proved to be the game-winner, as Millersville University held on for a 1-0 PSAC victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  The Mountain Cats slipped to 2-2-0 overall and 2-2-0 in conference-play.
 
Liebl took Lauren Hoffman's long through ball and found the back of the net behind Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Leigh Appolonia in the 36th minute to give Millersville a 1-0 lead.
 
That goal stood up the rest of the way and helped the Marauders improve to 4-0-0 overall and 3-0—0 in the PSAC.
 
Appolonia took the loss in goal for the Mountain Cats after facing 17 shots, making six saves and allowing the lone goal.
 
Millersville's Katia Mujica earned the shutout in net for Millersville.  Mujica saw six shots and made four saves.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will travel to matches at Gannon on Wednesday and Lock Haven on Saturday, before hosting a non-conference match against Wheeling Jesuit (WV) on September 17 at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
