D.J. Vogelman had two goals and an assist, and
Jonathan Reboton recorded his second consecutive shutout in goal in a 3-0 Pitt-Johnstown home-opening win over Penn State-New Kensington, Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Mountain Cats improved to 2-1-0.
Pitt-Johnstown outshot Penn State-New Kensington 19-2 and scored a pair of first half goals to take a 2-0 halftime lead.
D.J. Vogelman dribbled through the defense and scored unassisted in the 36
th minute to open the scoring, before
Bryon Gephart finished a cross from
Alex Laslavic five minutes later to increase it to 2-0.
Vogelman then netted his second goal of the day off of Gephart's cross four minutes into the second half that set the final at 3-0.
Reboton earned his second consecutive shutout in goal after facing six shots and making four saves for the Mountain Cats, who ended the day with a 33-6 advantage in shots.
Christopher Zolet took the loss in net for Penn State-New Kensington. Zolet saw 33 shots, made 13 saves, and allowed all three goals.
With the loss, the Lions slipped to 0-2-0.
Pitt-Johnstown will open PSAC-play at Gannon on Wednesday and at Lock Haven on Saturday, before traveling to another conference game against West Chester on Friday, September 21 at 11 a.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
