Volleyball Returns Home to Host East Stroudsburg on Friday and Kutztown on Saturday

Following a pair of road matches last weekend, the Pitt-Johnstown women's volleyball team returns home to host PSAC crossover matches are Friday and Saturday the home portion of their schedule with conference matches on Friday and Saturday.  The Mountain Cats will host East Stroudsburg University on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center and Kutztown University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
Pitt-Johnstown, 7-6 overall and 0-4 in the PSAC Southwest Division, looks to bounce from a 3-sets-to-none loss at Millersville last Friday, and a five-set loss at West Chester last Saturday.
 
Lauren Gechter's eight kills and two blocks, and Caitlin Vrabel's six kills and two blocks paced Pitt-Johnstown against Millersville.  On Saturday at West Chester, Noelle Carota had 18 kills, while Vrabel had 13 kills, and Jaden Gray added 12 kills for the Mountain Cats.
 
Head Coach Kevin Rodgers' East Stroudsburg Warriors come in at 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the PSAC Central Division after winning two-of-three conference matches last weekend.  The Warriors earned 3-sets-to-1 win over Edinboro on Thursday and Mercyhurst on Saturday, but suffered a 3-1 loss to Gannon on Friday.
 
Pitt-Johnstown has won eight of the last 10 meetings between the teams, but East Stroudsburg secured a 3-1 victory behind Sarah Smith's match-high 18 kills last season on September 28.  Carota (17 kills), Vrabel (15 kills), and Maura Brehl (14 kills) all finished with double-digits kills for Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Kutztown, under 23rd-year Head Coach John Gump, dropped to 6-9 overall and 0-5 in the PSAC Central, after conference crossover losses to Edinboro, Gannon, and Mercyhurst last weekend.
 
Pitt-Johnstown has dealt the Golden Bear six straight losses, including a 3-0 sweep in Kutztown on September 29, 2018.  Carota and Vrabel had 17 and 10 kills, respectively for Pitt-Johnstown and Holly Owen finished with a match-high 19 kills for Kutztown.
 
After this weekend's matches, Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC matches at Indiana (PA) on Tuesday and Bloomsburg and Lock Haven next weekend.  The Mountain Cats will play their next home matches on October 25 at 7 p.m. against California (PA) and October 26 at 1 p.m. against Seton Hill.
