Abby LaDuke scored two goals in the first five minutes, and
Kyra Watkins collected three assists to lead the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team to its second straight PSAC Western Division victory following Wednesday's 3-1 win at California (PA). The Mountain Cats improved to 3-5-0 overall and 3-4-0 in conference-play.
Pitt-Johnstown took control from the start. Just 1:21 into the match, LaDuke took Watkins' pass and found to top left corner of the net to give the Mountain Cats a quick 1-0 lead.
Four minutes later, LaDuke's header off of Watkins' deflected corner kick beat California (PA) goalkeeper Carly Gobbie to make it 2-0.
The Vulcans held the Mountain Cats off the scoreboard the rest of the first half, then cut the deficit in half on Abbey McComb's breakaway goal six minutes into the

second half.
However,
Emily Esser's blast from outside the box in the 61
st minute on Watkin's third assist of the day pushed Pitt-Johnstown's lead back out to two at 3-1.
Pitt-Johnstown, which scored three goals on just four shots, got seven saves in goal from
Maria Mosquera. Mosquera faced 13 shots and allowed just one goal.
Gobbie saw four shots from the Mountain Cats and didn't make a save for the Vulcans, who fell to 2-5-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to Edinboro for a PSAC match on Saturday, before returning home to hosting a non-conference match against Salem (WV) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
