Marissa Shields' goal midway through the second overtime broke a scoreless tie and gave Edinboro a slim 1-0 PSAC victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Saturday afternoon in Edinboro. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 3-6-0 overall and 3-5-0 in the PSAC Western Division.
Neither team was able to score over the first 105 minutes, but in the 106
th minute, Shield's shot from 10 yards out found the top of the net behind Mountain Cat goalkeeper
Maria Mosquera to give the Fighting Scots the 1-0 victory.
Mosquera saw 16 Edinboro shots and made five saves, while Fighting Scots goalkeeper Anna Voelker saw seven Pitt-Johnstown shots and made four saves.
With the win, Edinboro improved to 6-2-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the PSAC Western Division.
Pitt-Johnstown returns home to host a non-conference match against Salem (WV) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before hosting a PSAC match against Gannon on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
