Lauren Gechter and
Noelle Carota each had 10 kills, but PSAC Western Division leading Seton Hill won the final two sets to hand the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team a 3-sets-to-1 conference loss, Friday night in Greensburg. The Mountain Cats slipped to 15-13 overall and 7-11 in the PSAC Southwest.
Pitt-Johnstown and Seton Hill split the first two sets 25-20 and 27-25, but the Griffins took the final two sets 25-12 and 25-16.
Erin Carmody's service, followed by a block from Gechter and
Caitlin Vrabel gave Pitt-Johnstown an early 8-4 lead in the first set. Seton Hill answered with an 8-1 run to go in front 12-9 on a Viktoria Farian/Jessica Hanson block, before kills from
Tatiana Pitcher and Vrabel, and a
Gabi DeRenzo ace tie it at 12. However, the Griffins extended lead back out to 20-14 and went on to the 25-20 win on Farian's kill.
The Mountain Cats used kills from Carota and
Anna Johns to jump out to a 14-11 lead, before Seton Hill knotted it 16. The Griffins eventually went back in front

23-22 on Jillian Livorse's kill, but Pitt-Johnstown tied it at 23 and got a kill from Gechter and a Griffins attack error to even the match at one asset each with a 27-25 victory.
Seton Hill raced out to a 10-0 third set advantage and cruised to a 25-12 win.
In the fourth set, Erin Parks' kill and a Mountain Cat attack error gave the griffins a 9-2 lead. Seton Hill extended it to 16-7 on Hanson's kill on its way to closing out the match with a 25-16 win.
Carota had 10 kills and 11 digs, and Gechter added 10 kills, four digs and a pair of blocks to lead Pitt-Johnstown. Vrabel finished with nine kills and two blocks, while Pitcher had eight kills and two blocks, and Johns tallied four kills and four blocks.
J.C. Longeville had a team-high 39 set assists to go along with seven digs. The Mountain Cats also got 20 digs and three aces from Carmody and eight digs from DeRenzo.
Seton Hill improved to 18-9 overall and 13-5 in the PSAC Southwest behind Farian's match-high 16 kills, 16 digs, and three blocks and Livorse's 14 kills and eight digs.
Pitt-Johnstown will close out the 2019 season with a PSAC match at Seton Hill at California (PA) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
