Mountain Cats Suffer 2-1 Home PSAC Loss to California (PA)

Johnstown, PA

7463Brady Brown's rebound goal early in the match put the Mountain Cats in front, but California (PA) answered with a pair of second half goals to hand the Pitt-Johnstown soccer team a 2-1 PSAC loss, Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  The Mountain cats slipped to 2-10-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the PSAC.

Pitt-Johnstown took advantage of a foul in the box three minutes into the match.  After Josh Briscoe's penalty kick was saved by California (PA) goalkeeper Joseph Valeriano, Brown finished the rebound to put the Mountain Cats on top.

It stayed that way the rest of the first half and the first five minutes of the second half until the Vulcan's Eli Mitchell finished Jake Nebinski pass into the middle of the box to knot it at one.

Mitchell then scored the eventual match-winner on a rebound in the 59th minute.

Pitt-Johnstown's Jonathan Reboton and Sage Parsley shared time in goal for the Mountain Cats.  Roboton played the first 57 minutes and allowed one goal and made six saves, while Parsley played the final 33 minutes and gave up one goal and made four saves.

The Vulcans, who improved to 4-6-3 overall and 2-3-3 in the PSAC, got six saves from Valeriano.

The Mountain Cats host a PSAC match against Slippery Rock on Wednesday, before celebrating Senior Day and ending the 2019 season with a home PSAC match against Seton Hill on November 9.
