The Pitt-Johnstown basketball team used
John Paul Kromka's 19 points and seven rebounds and
Fred Mulbah's 10 points and nine rebounds to run its win streak to seven consecutive games and improved to 7-1 with a 77-63 victory over the University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon, Thursday evening at the Puerto Rico Clasico.
Playing their second game in less than 24 hours, the Mountain Cats withstood the physical play of UPR-Bayamon and were able to pull away in the second half.
Neither team was able to gain much momentum in the first 15 minutes, but with 4:35 remaining in the opening half, Mulbah's dunk off of a
Donovian Maxfield assist woke the Pitt-Johnstown bench and the Jose Morales Stadium crowd and ignited a 7-0 Mountain Cats run that gave Pitt-Johnstown a 37-33 halftime advantage.

UPR-Bayamon came out in the second half and hit a pair of 3-pointers to get to within one, but a 3-pointer from
Drew Magestro and a lay-up from
Caiden Landis got the Mountain Cat lead back out to five.
The Mountain Cats pushed its lead out to 16, before back-to-back baskets from Kromka gave the Mountain Cats their largest lead of the night at 66-46.
With the game well in hand, Coach
Bob Rukavina emptied the bench and the Mountain Cats closed out the 14-point victory.
