
For the second straight night, the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team earned a five set PSAC win in the Sports Center. This time, the Mountain Cats used 16 kills from
Caitlin Vrabel and 14 kills from
Noelle Carota to defeat Edinboro and improve to 14-11 overall and 6-9 in the PSAC Southwest.
The Fighting Scots took the opening set 25-17, and Pitt-Johnstown tied with a 25-20 win. The Fighting Scots regained the lead with a 25-20 victory, but the Mountain Cats followed with 25-11 and 15-8 wins to seal the victory.
Edinboro used an 8-2 run, including seven straight points, to build a 15-8 opening set lead on Alicia Eldredge's kill, before extending it to 20-12 on one of Cierah Jackson's six first set kills. Carota's kill cut Pitt-Johnstown's deficit to 22-17, but the Fighting Scots scored the final three points to take the set, 25-17.
In a very tight second set, Pitt-Johnstown took a 17-15 lead on another kill from Carota and held that lead on its way to a 25-20 win. After Edinboro cut it to 21-20, the Mountain Cats recorded the next four points, including
Tatiana Pitcher's kill that evened the match at one set apiece.

Pitt-Johnstown jumped out to a 5-2 third set lead, but the fighting Scots battled back to go in front 13-11 on Erica Sharp's service.
Anna Johns' kill followed by an Edinboro attack error tied it at 13, but the Fighting Scots extended it 22-17 on Bella Burrelli kills and went on to a 25-20 win.
It was all Mountain Cats in the fourth set on their way to forcing a fifth set with a 25-11 victory. Pitt-Johnstown ran out to a 13-4 lead on Johns' kill before another kill from Johns pushed the lead to double digits at 18-8. Edinboro was never able to get any closer and the Mountain Cats scored the final four points, including an ace from Pitcher and a kill by Vrabel.
The Mountain Cats kept in going in the final set and used Vrabel's kill to open up an 8-5 lead. Pitt-Johnstown never gave up the lead took advantage of a pair of Edinboro errors and Vrabel's kill to secure the 15-8 win.
Along with Vrabel and Carota, Pitt-Johnstown also got eight kills and four blocks from
Lauren Gechter, six kills from Pitcher, and five kills and five blocks from Johns.
J.C. Longeville and a team-high 44 set assists 12 digs, while
Erin Carmody finished with a match-high 20 digs for the Mountain Cats.
Edinboro slipped to 14-12 overall and 8-7 in the PSAC Northwest despite a match-high 21 kills from Jackson and 11 kills from Burrelli.
Pitt-Johnstown hosts a PSAC match against Gannon for Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, before closing out the home schedule with a conference match against Indiana (PA) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
