The seventh-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers celebrated Senior Night, then took the mat and got falls from Devin Austin and Steve Edwards in a 38-3 PSAC victory over Shippensburg, Friday night in the Sports Center.  The Mountain Cats improved to 15-3 overall and 5-1 in the PSAC.
 
Prior to the match, Pitt-Johnstown recognized this year's seniors…Joey Alessandro (141 lbs.), Corey Falleroni (157 lbs.), Edwards (174 lbs.), and Levi Niebauer (197 lbs.).
 
When the wrestling started, Pitt-Johnstown took control right away.  A 16-7 major decision by Brendan Howard at 125 lbs., followed by Matt Siszka's 12-2 major decision over Jake Downing at 133 lbs. put the Mountain Cats on top 8-0.
 
The major decision wins continued with third-ranked Alessandro's 12-2 win over Cole Rush at 141 lbs., before top-ranked Chris Eddins dealt Colton Babcock at 16-0 technical fall loss at 5:22 to push Pitt-Johnstown's lead to 17-0.
 
Falleroni used a third period take down to defeat Drake Brenize, 7-4, at 157 lbs. and Austin pinned Abner Thompson at 4:49 to make it six straight Mountain Cat wins.
 
Edwards pushed the lead out to 32-0 at 174 lbs., when he pinned Austin Klucker at 5:19.
 
Pitt-Johnstown kept rolling with Brock Biddle's 7-0 decision at 184 lbs. and Niebauer's 7-2 win over Alexi Castro at 197 lbs.
 
Shippensburg closed it out and set the final at 38-2 with a 5-2 decision by Derek Berberick over Tyler Oliver at 285 lbs.
 
With the loss, The Raiders fell to 4-6 overall and 0-4 in the PSAC.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will wrap-up the 2018-19 regular season with a PSAC match at Mercyhurst next Friday, before traveling back to Mercyhurst for the 2019 Super Region I Tournament on February 23 and to the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championships in Cleveland, Ohio on March 9 and 10.
