
The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats Women's basketball team fell to the No. 3 ranked Indiana (Pa.) Crimson Hawks, 57-35, Wednesday night at the Pitt Johnstown Sports Center. The Mountain Cats fell to 12-12 overall and 8-9 in the PSAC West. IUP improved to 21-1 overall and 16-1 in the conference.

Gabrielle Smith notched a double-double, leading the Mountain Cats in scoring, with 15-points on 3-of-6 from the field and going a perfect 9-9 from the free-throw line and recording 10 rebounds.

The Crimson Hawks opened up an early four-point lead thanks to layups from Brittany Robinson and Carolyn Appleby.

Alli McGrath cut into the early Indiana (Pa.) lead with back-to-back layups, to make it, 6-4. The Crimson Hawks closed out the first quarter on a 7-0 run to give them a 13-4 lead heading into the second quarter.

Smith found an open
Nicole Olkosky to make it, 18-10 with 7:22 left in the first half. The Crimson Hawks made it 26-10 on a Natalie Myers steal and a layup from Lexi Griggs.

The Mountain Cats went on a mini 6-0 run to end the first half, capped off on free-throws from Smith.

Olkosky cut the Indiana (Pa.) lead to eight on the first possession of the third quarter. After trading baskets, Pitt-Johnstown made it 30-23, on aÂ
Maurina Nunn 3-pointer.
After Nunn's 3-pointer, IUP reeled off an 11-0 run to make it 41-23 with 2:29 left in the third quarter.

Rajah Fink kicked off the scoring in the fourth quarter on a layup with 9:46 left in the game. Smith made it 49-29 on a pair of free throws with 7:36 left in the fourth quarter.

Appleby led the Crimson Hawks offensively, dropping 21-points on 8-of-18 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. Robinson added 12-points and seven rebounds for IUP.
The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats return to action Saturday against the No. 21 ranked California (Pa.) Vulcans, before taking on Seton Hill Wednesday night.
