Carly Santillo went 3-for-4 with two RBI, but Post (CT) University scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held off the Pitt-Johnstown softball team, 7-5, Sunday evening in Clermont, Fla. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 0-2.
Jade Stubblefield scored on an error and
Alyssa Hileman's RBI single scored
Bree Ginther to put Pitt-Johnstown on top, but a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning gave the lead to Post.
The Mountain Cats got that run back when Stubblefield singled-home
Morgan Cannin in the top of the fourth.
In the sixth, Santillo drove home a pair that gave the lead to Pitt-Johnstown.
However, Post used a walk, a sacrifice bunt and RBI single to retake the lead, before another walk and another RBI base hit in the bottom of the frame set the final at 7-5.
Santillo had three hits and two RBI to lead Pitt-Johnstown. Stubblefield was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs, and Hileman and two hits and drove in one. The Mountain Cats also got a hit and a run scored from
Lauren Gohacki and Cannin and a hit from
Sydney Flinn.
Ashley Pagliei pitched a complete-game, but took the loss.
Pitt-Johnstown continues its Spring Trip in Florida with games against Notre Dame (OH) and Kutztown on Monday and New York Institute of Technology and Winona State (Minn.) on Thursday.
