Shippensburg Takes Two From Mountain Cats, 5-3 and 10-2

6823After Pitt-Johnstown took a pair of games from Shippensburg on Friday at Point Stadium, the Raiders came back with a 5-3 walk-off win and a 10-2 victory Saturday afternoon in Shippensburg to split the four-game, non-conference series.  Scott Thompson had three hits and drove in three for the Mountain Cats, now 11-6.
 
In game one, Zach's Zoller's walk-off, three-run home run erased a one-run deficit and gave Shippensburg a 5-3 victory.
 
Shippensburg jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with runs in each of the first two innings off of Mountain Cat starter Braxton Roxby, but Pitt-Johnstown answered with two to tie it in the top of the third on RBI singles from Thompson and Lennox Pugh.
 
The Mountain Cats took the lead in the sixth.  Pugh reached on an error, moved to second on Dylan Conrad's bunt hit, and scored on Owen McKeever's single to right field.
 
However, Shippensburg was able to win it in the seventh.  Jacob Pollock led off the inning with a double and Ty Painter moved him to third on an infield base hit.  Raymond Watt entered the game for Pitt-Johnstown in relief of Roxby and gave up the walk-off three-run homer to Zoller that gave the Raiders the 5-3 win.
 
McKeever was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Thompson and Pugh each had a hit and drove in a run for the Mountain Cats.
 
Roxby (1-1) took the loss after giving up four runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings.  Roxy also struck out seven and walked one.
 
Zoller was 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk-off home run and four RBI to lead Shippensburg.
 
Jared Showalter (1-1) got the win in relief of starter Noah Inch after pitching a scoreless top of the seventh.  Inch pitched the first six innings and held Pitt-Johnstown to two runs on four hits.
 
In the nightcap, Pitt-Johnstown held a 2-0 fourth inning lead, but Shippensburg scored 10 unanswered runs over the final three innings to complete the sweep with the 10-2 win.
 
Pitt-Johnstown struck for a run in the top of the first.  Tyler Smith reached on an error to start the game and Dylan Broderick followed with an RBI double to left center.
 
Scott Thompson's double to left scored Jack Shirk in the Mountain Cat fourth to make it 2-0.
 
Shippensburg answered with three runs in its half of the fourth on Logan Williamson's two-run double and an RBI single up the middle from Chase Zurawski.
 
The Raiders added another run in the fifth to go in front 4-2, the broke it open with six more runs in the sixth.
 
Thompson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Broderick collected an RBI double for the Mountain Cats.
 
Joel Colledge got the start and fell to 0-2 after surrendering four runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings.  Colledge fanned three and walked two.
With the sweep, Shippensburg improved to 7-9.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will host a non-conference game against Lock Haven on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Point Stadium and a PSAC doubleheader against Mercyhurst next Friday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium.
