Edinboro collected 25 hits, including 16 in game two, to sweep a pair of non-conference games from the Pitt-Johnstown softball team, Thursday afternoon at V.E. Erickson Complex. The Fighting Scots took the opener, 3-1, before completing the sweep with an 11-0 win in five innings in the nightcap. The Mountain Cats are now 8-8.
In game one, Cheyenne Bothun singled, stole second, and scored on Roni Lipinski's two-out single up the middle to put Edinboro in front in the top of the second inning.
The Fighting Scots added another run in the fourth on Victoria Allocco's RBI single, before Pitt-Johnstown loaded the bases with one out in the fifth and cut the deficit to 2-1 on
Ashley Shor's ground out that scored
Bree Ginther.
However, Edinboro added an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Lipinski led off with a double off the left field fence. Abigail Sallot pinch ran for Lipinski and scored on a Shannon Gilbert base hit to increase the lead to 3-1.
The Mountain Cats loaded the bases again in the seventh, but Edinboro reliever Amanda Metz was able to get
Morgan Cannin to fly out, then struck out
Olivia Porter to close out game one and pick her third save of the year.
Shor drove in Pitt-Johnstown's lone run, while

Lauren Gohacki,
Ali Belgiovane,
Cassidy Kern, Ginther, and Porter accounted for the Mountain Cats' hits.
Kristen Coffay pitched a complete game in the circle for Pitt-Johnstown, but suffered the loss and fell to 3-3 after allowing three runs on nine hits. Coffay also fanned three and didn't allow a walk.
Lipinski had two hits and an RBI, and Allocco drove in a run for the Fighting Scots.
Carley Nasca earned the win for Edinboro and improved to 5-4. Nasca held the Mountain Cats to just one run on six hits over the first 4 2/3 innings.
In game two, the Fighting Scots opened-up a 4-0 third-inning lead then broke it open with seven runs over the final two innings en route to the 11-0 victory.
Edinboro opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second. Bothun led off with an infield single, moved to second on a Pitt-Johnstown throwing error, and came around to score on Allocco's single to right-center.
Olivia Jankowski connected for a two-run home run in the top of the third, and Allocco followed three batters later with a solo homer to left to make it 4-0.
The Fighting Scots added five more runs, including four unearned runs off of Pitt-Johnstown starter
Alyssa Hileman, in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth to set the final at 11-0.
Sydney Flinn, Cannin, Porter, and Belgiovane each had a hit for Pitt-Johnstown.
Hileman suffered her first loss of the season and slipped to 3-1 after surrendering nine runs (5 earned) on 13 hits in four innings in the circle.
Jankowski and Allocco were each 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, while Sallot and Bothun drove in two runs apiece for Edinboro.
Nasca pitched the first 3 2/3 innings to earn her second win of the day. Nasca allowed just one hit.
With the sweep, the Fighting Scots improved to 7-9.
Pitt-Johnstown opens PSAC-play at Lock Haven on Thursday, before host Clarion for a pair of conference games on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex.
