
The Pitt-Johnstown baseball team dropped the night-cap of a double header against California (Pa.) University Saturday 8-4. The Mountain Cats fell to 16-12 overall on the season and 4-6 in the PSAC West. California (Pa.) improved to 20-7 overall and 7-3 in conference.

After a scoreless first inning, California opened up a, 1-0 lead when Kristian Webb grounded out to score Thomas Chisam. After a throwing error and wild pitch, Ben Maudie made it, 4-0 on an infield hit.

In the top of the fourth inning, singles from
Zach Zinn and
Scott Thompson cut into the Vulcan's lead and make it 4-2.

California (Pa.) answered in the bottom of the inning on Nico Marchetti's two-RBI single to make it 6-2.

In the fifth inning the Mountain Cats answered with two more runs thanks to a RBI double from
Ben Foose and a throwing error made it, 6-4. In the bottom half of the inning, Bill Hitman pushed the Vulcan's lead back to four runs when he singled to right field.

Pitt-Johnstown's Brandon Roxby took the loss for the Mountain Cats. Roxby finished the day going 4 and 2/3 innings, giving up six-earned runs on eight hits and striking out four.

California (Pa.) starter, Bradyn Kail earned the win on the mound. Kail went 4 and 2/3 innings, giving up three-earned runs on six hits and striking out three.

The Mountain Cats will finish the series against California (Pa.) Monday at Point Stadium with first pitch scheduled at 1 P.M.
