
After California (PA) rallied for an 8-5 win in game one,
Zach Zinn broke a 4-4 tie with a solo home run in the fifth inning to help the Mountain Cats earn a 6-4 victory and PSAC doubleheader split with the Vulcans, Monday afternoon at Point Stadium. Pitt-Johnstown is now 17-13 overall and 5-7 in the PSAC Western Division.
In game one, California (PA) scored eight runs over the final two innings to erase an four-runs deficit and secure the 8-5 victory.
Tyler Smith led off the bottom of the third with a homer to left to put the Mountain Cats on top, before Pitt-Johnstown added another run in the fourth. Zinn doubled down the left field line and scored on
Dylan Conrad's single through the right side.
Dylan Broderick's RBI single and a run scoring double by
Ben Foose increase the Mountain Cat lead to 4-0 in the fifth.

California (PA) came back to tie it with four runs in the top of the sixth, but Pitt-Johnstown quickly regain the lead in the bottom of the sixth when pinch runner
Scott Lucas scored from third on a Vulcans' error.
However, California (PA) came back with four runs in the top of the seventh, including three on a pair of squeeze bunts, to regain the lead 8-3.
Patrick Gumto came out and struck out two in a perfect inning to pick up the win for the Vulcans in relief.
Broderick and Smith each went 2-fo-3 with an RBI for the Mountain Cats.
Raymond Watt suffered the loss in relief after allowing four runs (1 earned) in the seventh inning. Foose started and held the Vulcans scoreless on just two hits over the first five innings.
In the nightcap, Pitt-Johnstown used a two-run fifth inning to break a four-all tie in the 6-4 win.
Ben Maudie reached on a Mountain Cat error to start the game and eventually scored on Eric Fairman's ground out to give California (PA) a 1-0 lead.
Pitt-Johnstown came back with four in the bottom of the second. The Mountain Cats loaded the bases with two outs and Smith tripled to right field. Foose then singled-home Smith to make it 4-1.
Christian Webb's homer over the 410-foot sign in center field highlighted a three-run California (PA0 fourth inning that knotted it at four.
However, Zinn's solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning and
Dylan Kerstetter's RBI double in the Pitt-Johnstown fifth gave the led back to the Mountain Cats.
Ben Briggs pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and held the Vulcans off the scoreboard to earn his second win of the year. Briggs didn't allow a hit and struck out one.
Joel Colledge got the start for the Mountain Cats and surrendered four runs (3 earned) on three hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Smith tripled and drove in three, and
Scott Kuczala and Foose each had two hits for Pitt-Johnstown.
With the split, California (PA) is now 21-8 overall and 8-4 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to Slippery Rock on Friday to open a four-game PSAC series, before concluding the series against The Rock with a doubleheader at Point Stadium on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
