Women’s Soccer Falls to PSAC Foe Slippery Rock in Saturday’s Home-Opener

Johnstown, PA

Slippery Rock scored four minutes into the match, then added three more unanswered goals to defeat the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, 4-0, in the Mountain Cats' PSAC home-opener at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  The Mountain Cats dropped to 0-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the PSAC.
 
Sofia Harrison's rebound goal off of Shannon McIntyre's free kick in the fourth minute put The Rock on top early.
 
It remained a one-goal match until Tyler Spence finished Rachel Edge's cross in the 43rd minute to give Slippery Rock a 2-0 halftime advantage.
 
The Rock added another goal in the 59th minute, before Edge found the back of the net with just under seven minutes remaining to close out the 4-0 victory.
 
Maria Mosquera played all 90 minutes in net for the Mountain Cats.  Mosquera faced 19 Slippery Rock shots and made eight saves.  Emma Yoder earned the shutout for The Rock after seeing eight shots and making three saves.
 
Edge's goal and two assists led Slippery Rock, which improved to 3-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the PSAC.
 
Pitt-Johnstown hosts a PSAC match against Clarion on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before traveling to Seton Hill on September 21 for another conference match.
