Mercyhurst held a narrow 1-0 halftime advantage, before adding two more insurance goals in the second half to deal the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team a 3-0, PSAC Western Division loss, Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  The Mountain Cats dropped to 1-5-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the PSAC.
 
The Lakers opened the scoring in the 32
nd minute after Maia Russo took Fern Lazenby's throughball and found the back of the net behind Mountain Cat goalkeeper 
Maria Mosquera.
 
Mercyhurst then made it 2-0 in the 73
rd minute when Maya Bauer finished a rebound off of an Emma Scali shot, before the Lakers set the final at 3-0 on Kenzie Grenell's goal with just over four minutes to play.
 
Mosquera faced 17 Mercyhurst shots and made 10 saves, but suffered the loss in net for Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Mercyhurst's Vilde Wold earned the shutout in goal after seeing seven Mountain Cat shots and making three saves.
 
The Lakers improved to 3-1-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the PSAC West.
 
Pitt-Johnstown hosts a PSAC match against Indiana (PA) on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field before traveling to a conference match at California (PA) on October 2.
