Brooke Vollmer and
Abby LaDuke each scored goals to lead the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team to a 2-0 PSAC Western Division shutout over Indiana (PA), Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Mountain Cats improved to 2-5-0 overall and 2-4-0 in conference-play.
Pitt-Johnstown took an early 1-0 lead when Vollmer finished
Kim Mixon's throughball 10 minutes into the match.
The scored remained the same until the 78
th minute. After
Emily Esser's shot was saved by IUP goalkeeper Madeline Smakulski, LaDuke took the rebound and found the back of the net with her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

That was all Mountain Cat goalkeeper
Maria Mosquera would need. Mosquera earned her first career shutout after facing 11 shots and making six saves.
Smakulski took the loss for the Crimson Hawks. Smakulski saw 18 shots from the Mountain Cats, made nine saves, but allowed both goals.
With the loss, IUP dropped to 3-3-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the PSAC Western Division.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC matches at California (PA) on Saturday and Edinboro on October on October 5, before hosting a non-conference match against Salem (WV) on October 9 at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
