The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams will play host to a PSAC doubleheader against nationally-ranked IUP, Wednesday night in the Sports Center. The women will tip-off against the eighth-ranked Crimson Hawks at 5:30 p.m., before the Mountain Cats take on the seventh-ranked IUP men at 7:30 p.m.

Head Coach Mike Drahos' Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats made it three straight wins and improved to 10-7 overall and 5-6 in the PSAC West following Saturday's 77-67 victory over Slippery Rock in the Sports Center. PSAC West Athlete of the Week
Gabrielle Smith scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down six rebounds, and
Olivia Fasick scored 18 points to lead Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Alli McGrath chipped-in 11 points.
     Nationally for the Mountain Cats, Smith is second in both free-throws made (121) and attempted (143), 50
th in scoring (18.0 ppg.), and 59
th in free-throw percentage (84.6%), while Fasick is 60
th in assists (70) and 62
nd in steals (39).
     Smith currently stands in 13
th-place on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Scoring List with 1,382 points and 25
th-place on the rebounding list with 533 rebounds.
     IUP, ranked seventh in the WBCA National Poll, has won its last 14 games and comes in at 16-1 overall and 11-0 in the PSAC West. The Crimson Hawks defeated Edinboro, 66-63, on Wednesday and No. 20 California (PA), 76-61, on Saturday.Â
Lexi Griggs scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and
Natalie Myers added 18 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in the win over the Vulcans.
     Nationally, Myers is sixth in 3-point field goal percentage (49.4%) and 51
st in 3-pointers made (41). Griggs (59.0%) and
Justina Mascaro (55.6%) are 23
rd and 39
th respectively, in field goal percentage, and
Maura D'Anna is 48
th in blocked shots (26).
     Last season, IUP, which has won nine of the last 10 meetings between the teams, swept a pair of games from Pitt-Johnstown. On Jan. 5, the Crimson Hawks earned a 73-45 win in Indiana, before securing a 57-35 victory in the Sports Center on Feb. 13.Â
Carolyn Appleby scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Brittany Robinson added 12 points and seven rebounds for IUP. Smith's double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds and
Nicole Olkosky's seven points and seven rebounds paced the Mountain Cats.

     On the men's side, the top-two teams in the PSAC Western Division meet for the first of two match-ups this season.
    Pitt-Johnstown, which is receiving votes in the NABC Poll, comes in at 15-3 overall and 9-2 in the PSAC West following Saturday's 72-69 victory over Slippery Rock in the Sports Center that gave
Head Coach Bob Rukavina his 500
th career victory.Â
Josh Wise's 3-pointer with 1:05 left gave the Mountain Cats the lead, and Wise's steal with 6.4 seconds remaining sealed the win over The Rock. Wise scored 21 points,
Marcin Wiszomirski scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds, and
Fred Mulbah scored 10 points and dished out a game-high eight assists.Â
    Nationally for Pitt-Johnstown,
John Paul Kromka ranks fourth in blocked shots (48), sixth in blocked shots per game (2.67), and 14th in field goal percentage (63.2%), and Mulbah is fourth in assists (135) and fifth in assists per game (7.5). As a team, the Mountain Cats are seventh in assists (340), eighth in field goal percentage (50.9%), and 11
th in assists per game (18.9).

Coach Joe Lombardi (14th season) and his IUP Crimson Hawks come in ranked eighth in NCAA Division II at 15-1 overall and 10-1 in the PSAC West. IUP has won six straight games, including an 88-53 win at Edinboro on Wednesday and an 86-69 home win over California (PA) on Saturday.Â
Malik Miller's 22 points led the Crimson Hawks against the Vulcans.Â
Armoni Foster and
Ethan Porterfield each had 17 points and seven rebounds, and
Dave Morris added 17 points and five rebounds.
    As a team, the Crimson Hawks rank in the Top-10 in four NCAA Division II statistical categories. IUP is fourth in both field goal percentage defense (38.8%) and 3-point field goal defense (28.3%), eighth in scoring defense (63.8 ppg.), and ninth in scoring margin (18.9 ppg.)
    Pitt-Johnstown and IUP have met 62 previous times and the Crimson Hawks hold a 45-17 advantage. IUP took three games from the Mountain Cats last season, including a 76-68 victory in the PSAC Tournament Quarterfinals in Indiana on March 6. Wise scored a game-high 24 points and had seven rebounds, while Kromka and Mulbah added 12 and 10 points respectively, for the Mountain Cats.Â
Jacabo Diaz had a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Miller
(17 points) and
Dante Lombardi (16 points) also scored in double figures for IUP.

Both Pitt-Johnstown teams visit Seton Hill for a PSAC game on Saturday, before hosting a conference crossover doubleheader against Mansfield next Wednesday night in the Sports Center.
