Josh Wise poured in a game-high 23 points, grabbed six rebounds, and made five steals to help Pitt-Johnstown outscore Edinboro by 22 in the second half in a 98-73 Alumni Day victory over the Fighting Scots, Saturday night in the Sports Center. The Mountain Cats improved to 19-5 overall and 13-4 in the PSAC West.
Wise shot 9-14 to lead five Pitt-Johnstown double-figure scorers.
Joe Batt scored 20 points on the bench on 6-9 shooting, while
Fred Mulbah finished with 15 points, six rebounds and six assists. The Mountain Cats also got 12 points and game-highs of 11 rebounds and seven blocks from
John Paul Kromka, and 11 points from
Drew Magestro.
Pit-Johnstown, which shot 57.6% (38-66) for the game and out-rebounded Edinboro 42-36,, jumped out to an early eight-point advantage, but Edinboro stormed back to build a 35-25 lead of its won on Jaryn Simpson's jumper at the eight-minute mark.

However,
Joe Batt came off the bench to score 14 first half points and ignite a 20-7 Mountain Cat run that put Pitt-Johnstown back on top 45-42. Pitt-Johnstown then got a late bucket from Mulbah to take a 52-49 lead into the break.
It was all Pitt-Johnstown in the second half. A 13-5 run to begin the second half, capped by another bucket from Mulbah increased the lead to 13 and the Mountain Cats never let the Fighting Scots get closer than seven the rest of the way.
Along with the 58% shooting, the Mountain Cats also hit 9-20 from behind the arc and 13-16 from the charity stripe. Pitt-Johnstown held Edinboro to just 39.5% (30-67), including just 8-32 from 3-point range.

Trey Staunch had 18 points and seven rebounds, while Anthony Coleman and Simpson added 16 and 13 points, respectively for Edinboro.
With the loss, the Fighting Scots fell to 5-15 overall and 2-14 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to Slippery Rock for a PSAC game on Wednesday, before returning home to celebrate Senior Day with a conference doubleheader with the women's team against Clarion on Saturday. The women will tip-off at 1 p.m. with the men's game scheduled for 3 p.m.
