
After dropping a pair of games to West Liberty on Saturday to open a four-game non-conference series at Point Stadium, Pitt-Johnstown got strong pitching outings from
Isaiah Kearns and
Joel Colledge in 5-0 and 7-1 wins over the Hilltoppers on Sunday. The Mountain Cats are now 10-5.
In the opener, Pitt-Johnstown opened up a 2-run lead, then added three more in the sixth to take it 5-0.
Kearns' two-out solo home run in the bottom of the first gave the Mountain Cats a quick lead, and
Asher Corl's sacrifice fly in the second scored
Zach Zinn to make it 2-0.
Pitt-Johnstown added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Corl's triple down the right field line chased home
Tyler Smith and pinch-runner Ray Watt, before Jake Ansel's infield hit plated Corl.

Kearns did the rest on the mound. Kearns scattered three hits, fanned seven, and did allow a walk in a complete-game shutout to improve to 3-1.
Offensively, Kearns went 2-for-3 with a homer, and Corl tripled and drove in three for the Mountain Cats.
Jared Houser had two this for the Hilltoppers.
Sam Aulick took the loss for West Liberty and fell to 0-4 after allowing three runs on four hits over the first 5.2 innings.
In game two, the Mountain Cats used a six-run third inning and got six strong innings from Colledge to complete the sweep with the 7-1 win.
Colledge gave up just one run on nine hits over the first six innings. He struck out four and walked one on his way to improving to 3-0.
Lennox Pugh drove in a pair, and
Josh Reynolds went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Pitt-Johnstown.
Owen McKeever doubled and drove in one, while Kearns and Zinn also had an RBI each for the Mountain Cats.
With the losses, the Hilltoppers dropped to 5-10.
Pitt-Johnstown visits Shippensburg for a non-conference game on Tuesday and Concord (WV) for a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, before hosting a non-conference game against Bloomsburg on March 17 at Point Stadium.
