Mitch Jeffe finished in a tie for fifth-place to lead Pitt-Johnstown to a fourth-place finish, the program's best showing since joining the conference in 2013, at this weekend's 2021 PSAC Men's Golf Championships at Hershey Country Club's East Course.
IUP's Isaiah Swan shot even par to hold off Gannon's Abe Holmes by two strokes and earn medalist honors and guide the Crimson Hawks to their second straight PSAC title.
Jeffe's seven-over-par (70, 77, 73, 220) was good enough to tie Mercyhurst's Ryan Ferry for fifth-place and record the highest individual finish for a Mountain Cat golfer at the PSAC Championships.
Pitt-Johnstown's
Mario Battaglia placed ninth at +10 (69, 80, 74, 223), three shots behind Jeffe, while
Justin Scally tied for 10th-place at +11 (72, 76, 76, 224).Â
Sal Cerilli finished in a tie for 18th at +14 (73, 76, 78,227), and
Brendan Villnave wrapped-up the Mountain Cat golfers with a 43rd-place at +31 (80, 77, 87, 244.)
Pitt-Johnstown, which stood at the top of the standings with a five stroke lead after the first day of the three-day tournament, finished in fourth-place, 16 strokes behind the Crimson Hawks and just one stroke shy of Mercyhurst for third-place.
IUP claimed the team title at +23 (875). Gannon was second (+29, 881), Mercyhurst was third (+38, 890), and Pitt-Johnstown (+39, 891) and West Chester (+47, 899) rounded out the Top-5 in the 10-team field.
