LEBANON, Pa. — Junior Lucas Smith checked in with an even-par 72 in Sunday's third round to force a playoff before finishing as the runner-up medalist at the PSAC Men's Golf Championships at Iron Valley Golf Club.
Smith was trying to become the second straight Pitt-Johnstown player to secure individual medalist honors at the conference tournament after teammate Eli Ropietski accomplished the feat last year. California's Nixen Erdely chipped-in on the first playoff hole to win it.
The Mountain Cats shot an 18-over-par 306 in the final round and finished sixth in the 9-team field with a 50-over 914. Gannon took home the team title with a 12-over 876.
Following a 2-over 74 in the first round on Friday, Smith climbed all the way into a tie for third place after firing a 1-under 71 the next day. He finished the tournament at 1-over 217.
Giovanni Vezza recorded a 2-over 74 in the third round and tied for 21st at 14-over par. Griffin Hansberry finished at 19-over par to tie for 25th. Eli Ropietski carded a 20-over par to tie for 27th.
