Mercyhurst jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead on its way to a 6-0 PSAC Western Division victory over the Mountain Cat men's soccer team, Saturday afternoon in Erie. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 1-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in conference-play.
Ben Friedlander's goal in the 16
th minute opened the scoring for the Lakers, before Nathan Nagucki scored in the 27
th minute and Sidney Warden added penalty kick goal in the 42
nd minute to give Mercyhurst a 3-0 halftime advantage.
The Lakers tacked on three more second half goals to set the final at 6-0.
Sage Parsley,
Devin Reichenbach, and
PJ Derksen all played in goal for the Mountain Cats. Parsley allowed all six goals and made three saves, while Reichenbach and Derksen didn't allow a goal and combined to make three saves.
Jonathan Gomes and Mattias Adelius each played a half in net for Mercyhurst and combined for the shutout.
The Lakers are now 5-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown returns home to host a PSAC West match against Seton Hill on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown, before going to Erie on Saturday to take on Gannon in another conference match.
