Women’s Soccer Suffers Tough, 1-0, PSAC Loss to Edinboro

Giesey_Megan.JPGEdinboro netted the match's lone goal with four minutes remaining in the first half and made it stand up in a 1-0, PSAC Western Division victory over the Mountain Cat women's soccer team, Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  Pitt-Johnstown is now 3-7-0 overall and 2-6-0 on the PSAC West.
 
In the 41st minute, Morgan Wissner took Leah Czechowski's pass and beat Mountain Cat goalkeeper Megan Giesey with what turned out to be the only goal of the match.
 
Giesey saw 14 Edinboro shots and made five saves, while Fighting Scots' goalkeeper Anna Voelker earned the shutout after seeing five Pitt-Johnstown shots and making four saves.
 
Edinboro improved to 6-2-0 overall and 5-2-0 in conference-play.
 
The Mountain Cats travel to Gannon for a PSAC West match on Saturday, before hosting Slippery Rock for a conference match on October 13 at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
