
The Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team coasted to a 25-22, 25-21, 25-12 PSAC Western Division Sweep over Slipper Rock, Friday night in the Sports Center.

Grace Miller, and
Lualis Alvarado all had nine kills for the Mountain Cats, who improved to 12-6 overall and 5-4 in the PSAC West.
After Slippery Rock to a 9-7 first set advantage on a Mary Berger kill, Pitt-Johnstown responded with a 5-1 spurt, including a pair of kills from
Molly Ayres, to take a 12-10 lead. Consecutive kills from Alvarado pushed it out to 23-19, before the Mountain Cats closed out the 25-22 victory with kills from
Adiamar Beaz and
Cassie Pascarella.
In the second set, Courtney and Beaz's combined block, followed by a kill from Alvarado gave Pitt-Johnstown a 10-5 lead. Slippery Rock cut the deficit to 11-9 on Taylor Fellows service ace and two Pitt-Johnstown attack errors, but

the Mountain Cats regained control and built a 16-10 lead and went up 2-sets-to-none with the 25-21 win, capped by
Lauren Gechter's kill.
It was all Pitt-Johnstown to start the third set. Miller, Gechter, and Pascarella all had two kills to help the Mountain Cats run out to a 9-2 lead. Courtney's kills extended it into double digits at 14-4 and Pitt-Johnstown cruised to the three-set sweep with the 25-12 win.
Pitt-Johnstown got a balanced offensive attack against the Rock. Miller finished with nine kills and 14 digs, while Alvarado had nine kills and a dozen digs, and Courtney added nine kills with a .600 hitting percentage. The Mountain Cats also got eight kills from Pascarella and five kills from Gechter.

Beaz's match-high 36 set assists to go along with 11 digs led Pitt-Johnstown, and
Erin Carmody collected a match-high 23 digs.
Erica Selfridge led Slippery Rock with a match-high 12 kills, and Abigail Koeller chipped-in six kills.
With the loss, the Rock fell to 4-19 overall and 1-9 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to Mercyhurst for a PSAC West match on Saturday, before returning home to host conference matches in the Sports Center against Edinboro on Friday at 7 p.m. and Gannon for Senior Day on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.
