Men’s Soccer Suffers Tough, 2-1, PSAC Loss at California (PA)

Toto_Alexzander.JPGAlexzander Toto's first half goal put Pitt-Johnstown on top, but California (PA) answered with a pair of second half goals to hold on for a 2-1 PSAC Western Division victory over the Mountain Cats, Saturday afternoon at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility in California.  Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 1-11-2 overall and 0-7-1 in the PSAC West.
 
Toto's header off of an Adan Cabrera-Perez's free kick gave Pitt-Johnstown a 1-0 lead with just over a minute remaining in the opening half.
 
California (PA) tied it nine minutes into the second half after Negus Johnson finished Dylan Zupanc's cross, then took the lead in the 72nd minute when Kwesi Abban's free kick from midfield found its way past Mountain Cat goalkeeper PJ Derksen.

Derksen took the loss in goal for the Mountain Cats after seeing nine shots, aiming three saves, and allowing both goals.
 
California (PA), which improved to 4-8-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the PSAC West, got three saves from Trevor Zabilowicz.  Zabilowicz faced seven Pitt-Johnstown shots and allowed just one goal.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will wrap-up the 2021 season with PSAC road matches at Slippery Rock on Wednesday and at Seton Hill on Saturday.
