Four different players scored goals as Slippery Rock secured a 4-1 victory over visiting Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday afternoon in a PSAC West Division match at James Egli Field.
The loss dropped the Mountain Cats to 0-8-1 in the PSAC West and 1-12-2 overall. Slippery Rock, which snapped a five-game losing streak, improved to 3-6-0 in the PSAC West and 6-9-2 overall.
Trailing 4-0 early in the second half, Pitt-Johnstown finally got on the board on an unassisted goal by Adan Cabrera-Perez at the 66-minute mark. Cabrera-Perez booted a shot past Slippery Rock goalkeeper Derek Hoffman for his first goal of the season.
In the opening half, Arturo Pla Hernandis staked Slippery Rock to a 1-0 lead, beating Mountain Cats goalkeeper Sage Parsley at the eight-minute mark. The goal came off a feed from Samuel Hillman.
The hosts stretched their lead to 2-0 at 33 minutes as Joey Moeller netted a goal, assisted by Joe Skillicorn. Less than six minutes later, Anthony Gagliardi II made it 3-0 with an unassisted tally.
Skillicorn then set up Mo Kanin's goal three minutes into the second half, pushing Slippery Rock's advantage to 4-0.
PJ Derksen took the loss in netl for the Mountain Cats. He faced 18 shots, making six saves and allowing three goals in 84 minutes. Parsley allowed one goal on one shot in six minutes.
Coach Eric Kinsey's Pitt-Johnstown team wraps up its season at 2 p.m. Saturday at Seton Hill.
