
PSAC West leading Gannon took advantage of a first half penalty kick goal and held off the Mountain Cat men's soccer team, 1-0, Saturday night in Erie.
PJ Derksen made 10 saves in goal for Pitt-Johnstown, which slipped to 1-7-1 overall 0-4-0 in the PSAC West.
Joe Knox's penalty kick in the 12
th minute gave Gannon a 1-0 lead and accounted for the only scoring of the match.
Derksen helped keep the Mountain Cats in the match. Derksen faced 20 Golden Knights' shots, allowed just the penalty kick goal, and made 10 saves.
Gannon's Maximiliano Rocco held Pitt-Johnstown scoreless in net. Rocco saw eight shots from the Mountain Cats and was forced to make five saves.
The Golden Knights improved to 9-1-0 overall and remain unbeaten in conference-play at 3-0.
Pitt-Johnstown host a PSAC West match against Slippery Rock on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before hosting a non-conference match against Roberts Wesleyan (NY) on October 19 at 2 p.m.
