Tori Radvan's RBI single in the bottom of the 10
th inning in Wednesday's first game of a PSAC Western Division doubleheader at V.E. Erickson Complex gave Pitt-Johnstown a 4-3 walk-off win over Gannon. In the nightcap, Pitt-Johnstown erased a seven-run deficit, but the Golden Knights used a two-run homer in the top of the eighth to secure the split with a 12-11 victory. The Mountain Cats are 9-25 overall and 8-20 in the PSAC West.
Stacey Walling and
Tori Radvan each connected for two homeruns, and
Jade Stubblefield had five hits and drove in three on the day for Pitt-Johnstown.
In game one, Pitt-Johnstown used
Tori Radvan's RBI single in the bottom of the 10
th inning to walk off with the 4-3 victory.
Pitt-Johnstown manufactured a run in the second.
Carly Santillo led off with a walk and moved to second on Walling's sacrifice bunt. Santillo then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on
Tori Radvan's single through the right side.

Run scoring base hits from Nicole Bush and Maria Taliani in the Gannon half of the third put the Golden Knights on top, 2-1, before
Taylor Mendicino reached on an error, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Stubblefield's single to right field that knotted it at two after five innings.
It stayed that way until the 10
th inning. With the softball tiebreaker rule, Jules Ryan, who made the last out in the Gannon ninth inning, was placed on second. Jules advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt on scored on Leah Coffman's ground out to give the lead back to the Golden Knights at 3-2.
Pitt-Johnstown answered right back.
Taylor Mendicino was placed on second and reached third on Stubblefield's bunt single. Santillo followed a single to center that scored Mendicino to tie it. Walling then reached on an error that loaded the bases, and
Tori Radvan singled to right field to chase home Stubblefield to give the Mountain Cats the walk-off victory.
Stubblefield went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run, and
Tori Radvan had two hits and drove in two lead Pitt-Johnstown. The Mountain Cats also got a hit and an RBI from Santillo, two hits from Walling, and a pinch-hit single from
Kristie Radvan.
Alyssa Hileman pitched a complete-game and improved to 4-7 after limiting Gannon to just three runs (2 earned) on eight hits. Hileman also struck out five and didn't allow a walk.
Kennedy DeMatteis suffered the loss and slipped to 11-8 after giving up four runs (1 earned) on nine hits in 9.0 innings.
Ryan had two hits and scored two runs for the Golden Knights.
In game two, Gannon built a 10-3 fourth inning lead, before Pitt-Johnstown rallied to tie it and send it to extra innings. However, Kristina DeMatteis' two-run homer in the top of the eighth lifted Gannon to the 12-11 win.
Hileman started the nightcap but lasted on 2/3 of an inning after Kristina DeMatteis gave Gannon three unearned runs in the top of the first with a three-run homer to right-center.
Pitt-Johnstown answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the first.
Olivia Porter doubled down the left field line and scored on
Jade Stubblefield single to center, before
Tori Radvan connected for a two-run, two out homer to left center to tie it at three.
The Golden Knights scored six runs in the top of the second off of Mountain Cat relievers
Ashley Pagliei and
Julie Shinavski, including Ryan's grand slam that made it 9-3.
Ryan drove home another run with a single up the middle in the top of the sixth. Before Pitt-Johnstown got four runs back in the bottom half of the fourth.
Tori Radvan led off with her second homer of the game, before Mendicino doubled and scored on
Ali Belgiovane's single to center. The Mountain Cats reloaded the bases and got a fielder's choice RBI from Stubblefield and an RBI single from Santillo that cut it to 10-7.
It remained the same until Walling led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run to center to narrow it to 10-8. After singles from
Bree Ginther and Belgiovane,
Maddie Flowers' two run double to the gap in right center tied it at 10.
In the top of the eighth, Kristina DeMattheis belted a two-run homer off of
Kristen Coffay to give the lead back to the Golden Knights.
Walling's two-out homer to left center in the bottom of the eighth made it 12-11, but Katie Sidare was able to get the final out to pick up her first win of the season.
Walling hit a pair of solo homeruns, and
Tori Radvan hit a pair of homers and drove in three for Pitt-Johnstown. Stubblefield had two hits and two RBI, and Flowers had two hits, including a double and drove in two. The Mountain Cats also got two hits and an RBI from Belgiovane and two hits from Mendicino.
Kristen Coffay took the loss in relief and fell to 4-9 after allowing two runs on five hits over the final 4.2 innings.
With the split, the Golden Knights are now 22-12 overall and 21-9 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to Gannon on Friday to conclude the four-game PSAC series, before closing out the 2021 season with a conference doubleheader against California (PA) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex.
