

After suffering a 17-1 loss to seventh-ranked Seton Hill in Friday's opening game of a Senior Day, PSAC doubleheader at Sargent's Stadium at the Point, Pitt-Johnstown rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings in the nightcap, but the Griffins were able to pull out a 4-3, 9-inning win to complete the sweep. The Mountain Cats are 16-18 overall and 12-14 in the PSAC West.

In game one, Seton Hill broke open a four-run game with 13 runs in the seventh to its way to the 17-1 victory.
Jordan Fiedor's RBI single in the top of the second put the Griffins on top, before Fiedor led off the fifth with a solo homer to right-center off of Mountain Cat starter
Dylan Heid to make it 2-0.
Seton Hill added two more in the top of the sixth on Tommy Pellis' two-run homer to right.


Pitt-Johnstown got on the scoreboard and cut it to 4-1 in its half of the sixth when
Owen McKeever walked and scored on a Seton Hill throwing.
However, the Griffins exploded for 13 runs off of four Pitt-Johnstown relievers in the top of the seventh.
Jake Ansell,
Cameron Scott, and
Alex Glumac accounted for the three Mountain Cat hits.
Heid took the loss and fell to 7-2 after allowing four runs on four hits over the first six innings. Heid also struck out 10 and walked five.
In game two, Pellis belted two more homeruns, including one in the top of the ninth that helped Seton Hill complete the sweep with the 4-3 win.
Seton Hill scored two runs in the fifth. Tanner Froehlich scored on Owen Sabol's ground out, before a Pitt-Johnstown error and a wild pitch allowed Jack Oberdorf to score.
The Mountain Cats cut the deficit in half with an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth when
Josh Reynolds reached on a Seton Hill error and scored on
Colin Pasone's base hit to center.
Pellis' second homer of a day, a solo shot to left center in the top of the seventh got that run back for the Griffins, but the Mountain Cats battled back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie it at three and send it to extra innings. A dropped pop-up to first base allowed
Dylan Broderick to score from second and
Lennox Pugh to score from first.
Pellis did it again in the top of the ninth with a solo homer to left to give the led back to the Griffins, 4-3.
The Mountain Cats put runners on second and third with one out in its half of the ninth, but Seton Hill reliever was able to strikeout the next two hitters to close it out for the Griffins.
Pugh went 3-for-4 with a double and a run, while Broderick added a pair of hits for the Mountain Cats.
Austin Hammerle suffered the loss in relief and slipped to 0-1 after allowing two runs on four hits over the final four innings. Hammerle also fanned seven and walked three.
Joel Colledge started and held Seton hill to two runs on three hits in five innings. Colledge struck out five and walked five.
Pellis hit three homeruns and drove in five on the day for the Griffins, who improved to 29-4 overall and 21-4 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown will close out the 2021 regular season with a pair of games at Seton Hill on Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m.
