Volleyball Defeats Kutztown in Four Sets to Open East Stroudsburg Invitational

East Stroudsburg, PA

Grace Miller finished with a match-high 15 kills and 20 digs, and Lualis Alvarado added 14 kills and 18 digs to lead a balanced Pitt-Johnstown attack in a four-set victory over Kutztown in Friday's opening round of the 2021 East Stroudsburg University Invitational.  The Mountain Cats raised their record to 2-1.
 
After dropping the first set, 25-20, the Mountain Cats clawed back with 25-22, 25-13, and 25-16 victories to down the Golden Bears in four sets.
 
In addition to Miller and Alvarado, who combined for 29 kills, the Mountain Cats got nine kills apiece from Lauren Gechter and Cassie Pascarella.
 
Adiamar Beaz finished with a match-high 36 set assists and a team-high 24 digs, while Erin Carmody tallied five assists and 17 digs.
 
Pitt-Johnstown also got eight assists from Abi Leitner, and three service aces from Ally Diamond.
 
Erin Patterson collected 11 kills and a dozen digs, and Sadie Doss chipped-in eight kills, for Kutztown, which fell to 1-4 on the year.
