Morgan Kost gave Pitt-Johnstown a 1-0 first half lead, but Clarion answered with a pair of second half goals to secure a 2-1 PSAC Western Division victory over the Mountain Cat Women's Soccer team, Wednesday evening in Clarion. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 1-4-0 overall and 0-3-0 in conference-play.
The Mountain Cats took a slim 1-0 lead into the halftime break on Kost's goal 23 minutes into the match, but Clarion knotted it at one in the 63
rd minute on an Alayna Wicker goal.
It stayed that way until the 81
st minute when Jaci Bowser set up Kylee Cross' shot that beat Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper
Sachi Negri to the bottom right corner to put the Golden Eagles on top, 2-1.
Cross' goal proved to be the match-winner.
Despite being outshot 13-4 by Pitt-Johnstown, Clarion got six saves from goalkeeper Alexandra Velez to help the golden Eagles improve to 2-1-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the PSAC West.
Negri saw four Clarion shots, didn't make a save and allowed both goal in net for the Mountain Cats.
Pitt-Johnstown returns home to host a PSAC match against Seton Hill on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before hosting a conference match against California (PA) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
