Mercyhurst netted a goal in each half and went on to a 2-0 PSAC Western Division victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Wednesday afternoon in Erie. The Mountain Cats slipped to 2-5-0 overall and 1-4-0 in conference-play.
The Lakers got on the scoreboard in the 13
th minute on a Karah Van Horn goal and held that lead until the 77
th minute when Lauren Casey scored to the bottom right side of the net with an insurance goal to set the final at 2-0.
Megan Giesey and
Alayna Burgamy each played 45 minutes in net for Pitt-Johnstown. Giesey played the first half and faced eight shots, made three saves and allowed one goal. Burgamy saw six shots in the second half, made a pair of saves, and surrendered one goal.
Mercyhurst, which improved to 3-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the PSAC West, got a shutout in goal from Maddie Elbro. Elbro was forced to make two saves on six Mountain Cat shots.
Pitt-Johnstown visits Indiana (PA) for a PSAC Western Division match on Saturday, before returning home to host a conference match against California (PA) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
