
After suffering a straight set loss to West Liberty to open the West Liberty-Tri-Match on Tuesday, Pitt-Johnstown bounced back behind
Lualis Alvarado's career-high 14 kills and nine digs, and
Cassie Pascarella's 12 kills to sweep Salem (WV) and even its record at 1-1.

The Mountain Cats opened the match with a pair of 25-12 wins, before completing the sweep with a 25-15 win in the finale.

In addition to Alvarado and Pascarella's efforts, Pitt-Johnstown got 10 kills from
Lauren Gechter and four kills and a dozen digs from
Grace Miller.

Adiamar Beaz collected a career and match-high 36 set assists, while
Erin Carmody had a match-high 15 digs for the Mountain Cats.

Salem, which fell to 0-3 on the year, was led by Danielle Burns' six kills.

The Mountain Cats travel to the East Stroudsburg Tournament on Friday and Saturday and to a Tri-Match at Frostburg State (MD) on September 18. Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2021 home debut with a PSAC Western Division match against Mercyhurst on September 25 at 1 p.m. in the sports Center.
