Jacob Palange scored his first two collegiate goals and an own goal helped lift the Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team to a 5-1 non-conference, victory at Penn State-New Kensington, Tuesday afternoon. The Mountain Cats, who outshot the Lions, 23-6, evened their record at 1-1-0.
Pitt-Johnstown took advantage of an own goal in the 26
th minute off of Penn State-New Kensington's Jose Antonio Del Carmen Montenegro to open the scoring, before Palange netted his first collegiate goal in the 36
th minute off of
Andrew Jeffrey's cross.
Palange then netted his second goal in the 36
th minute off of an assist from
Samuel Benshoff to give the Mountain Cats a 3-0 halftime advantage.
The Lions got on the scoreboard in the 56
th minute on a Vincent Gigliotti goal, but Pitt-Johnstown answered with two more goals in a span of four minutes.

However,
Alexzander Toto finished a penalty kick in the 69
th minute, and Benshoff scored off of an
Evan Ulrich cross that made it 5-1 just five minutes later.
Sage Parsley,
PJ Derksen, and
Devin Reichenbach all shared time in net for Pitt-Johnstown and combined to make a pair of saves, while limiting the Lions to just one goal.
Pablo Rea and AJ Collins each played in goal for Penn State-New Kensington and faced 23 shots, made seven saves and surrendered five goals.
The Lions are now 0-2-0.
The Mountain Cats travel to non-conference matches at Washington Adventist (MD) on Friday and Shepherd (WV) on Sunday, before making their 2021 home debut with a non-conference match against D'Youville (NY) on September 21 at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
