
Pitt-Johnstown cut a two-goal deficit to one on
Morgan Kost's goal with five minutes left in regulation, but Gannon was able to hold off a late Mountain Cat charge to defeat Pitt-Johnstown, 3-2, in Wednesday's PSAC Western Division opener at a wet Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Mountain Cats are now 1-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference-play.
After heavy rain delayed the start of the match for just over a half hour, Gannon's Taylor Lewis scored off of a Gabby Boden assist in the 31
st minute to put the Golden Knights on top.
Pitt-Johnstown answered to tie it five minutes into the second half when
Lydia Roman finished Kost's assist, but Gannon followed with a pair of goals in a span of six minutes later in the half.

Jamie Seneca gave the lead back to the Golden Knights in the 72
nd minute, before Lewis's second goal of the day in the 78
th minute increased it to 3-1.
Pitt-Johnstown battled back and cut it to 3-2 on Kost's goal with five minutes remaining, but that was as close as the Mountain Cats would get.
Sachi Negri faced 16 Golden Knights' shots, made seven saves, and surrendered three goals in net for Pitt-Johnstown.
Gannon's Kennedy Solymosi made five saves on 15 Mountain Cat shots and allowed a pair of goals.
With the win, the Golden Knights won their season-opener and are now 1-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the PSAC West.
The Mountain Cats travel to PSAC matches at Slippery Rock on Saturday and Clarion on Wednesday, before hosting a conference match against Seton Hill on Saturday, September 18 at 1 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
