Basketball Teams to Host Seton Hill and Welcome Back Alumni, Saturday Evening In Sports Center

      The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams return home to celebrate Alumni Weekend with a PSAC Western Division doubleheader against Seton Hill, Saturday evening in the Sports Center.  The Women will tip-off against the Griffins at 5 p.m., with the men's game to follow at 7 p.m.
 
         Coach Mike Drahos and the Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team enters Saturday's Alumni Weekend game against Seton Hill at 6-9 overall and 4-5 in the PSAC West.  The Mountain Cats picked up their second consecutive victory following Wednesday's 59-47 PSAC Crossover victory at Mansfield.  Kylah Franklin's career-highs of 15 points and nine rebounds and Peyton Alazaus' 15 points led Pitt-Johnstown.  Molly Wagoner pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds, and Olivia Fasick had eight points and a game-high six assists for the Mountain Cats.
         Eighth-year head Coach Mark Katarski's Seton Hill Griffins, ranked fourth in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region Rankings, have won eight straight games and are 14-4 overall and sit atop of the PSAC Western Division standings at 8-1.  The Griffins are coming off of a 71-59 home win over 17th-ranked Indiana (PA) on Wednesday.  Christiane Frye scored a game-high 20 points, while Katie Nolan and Rena Enterline each tallied 13 points to pace five Seton Hill players who scored in double figures.
         Pitt-Johnstown and Seton Hill have met 27 times since the 2006-07 season and the Griffins hold a 16-11 advantage.  After Seton Hill won 10 straight against Pitt-Johnstown from 2015-2019, the Mountain Cats swept a pair of games in 2019-20.  On Jan. 25, 2020, Pitt-Johnstown got 19 points from Fasick and 16 points apiece from Alli McGrath and Gabrielle Smith in a 79-65 win in Greensburg.  Pitt-Johnstown completed the season sweep with a 75-67 win in the Sports Center on Feb. 26, 2020.  Smith's 22 points and Fasick's 17 points paced the Mountain Cats, while Nolan had game-highs of 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Griffins.
 
 
         The Pitt-Johnstown men, ranked sixth in the DII SIDA Atlantic Region under 33rd-year Head Coach Bob Rukavina's (33rd-year), has won five straight games straight games and sits in a tie for the top spot in the PSAC Western Division with Indiana (PA) at 12-3 overall and 8-1 in conference-play.  The Mountain Cats are coming off of a, 92-73, PSAC Crossover victory at Mansfield on Wednesday.  Ryan Smith's game-high 24 points and seven rebounds, and John Paul Kromka's 20 points and five blocks led four Pitt-Johnstown double figure scorers.  Fred Mulbah had 18 points and a game-high 11 assists, while Joe Batt collected 18 points and eight rebounds, and Jared Jakubick scored seven points and had a game-high nine rebounds.
         Nationally, Pitt-Johnstown leads the PSAC and ranks sixth in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage (51.6%) and 16th in 3-point field goal percentage (40.0%).  The Mountain Cats are also second in the PSAC and 12th nationally in assists per game (18.1) and third in the PSAC and 32nd nationally in assist-to-turnover-ratio (1.36).  Mulbah paces the PSAC and ranks sixth nationally in both total assists and assists per game, while Kromka leads the PSAC and ranks fifth in the nation in total blocks and seventh in field goal percentage.  Kromka is also second in the conference and 24th nationally in double-doubles.
         Kromka stands in 20th-place on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Scoring List with 1,181 points and is tied with Quinton Davis (2005-09) for ninth on the All-Time Rebounding List, with 611.  Mulbah is currently fifth on the Mountain Cat All-Time Assists List with 463.
    Third-year Head Coach Kendrick Saunders' Seton Hill squad fell to 1-14 overall and 1-9 in the PSAC West after suffering a 100-60 home loss to sixth-ranked IUP on Wednesday.  Sean Dillon and Jaylen Stewart each scored 19 points to lead the Griffins.
         Jimmy Moon ranks 29th nationally and second in the PSAC for the Griffins.
         Pitt-Johnstown has won 23 of the 31 meetings since the teams first met during the 2006-07 season.  The Mountain Cats have won seven of the last eight meetings, including taking a pair of games from Seton Hill in 2019-20.  On Jan. 25, Caiden Landis and Kromka each scored 14 points to pace five Pitt-Johnstown double figure scorers in an 86-66 win in Greensburg.  The Mountain competed the season sweep with an 85-73 win in the Sports Center on Feb. 26.  Kromka had game-highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Batt and Landis each scored 15 points for Pitt-Johnstown.  Nathan Davis' 19 points and Tommy Sekunda's 13 points and six rebounds led the way for the Griffins.
 
         Pitt-Johnstown men and women will host a PSAC West doubleheader against nationally-ranked Indiana (PA) on Monday at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the Sports Center, before visiting Mercyhurst for a conference doubleheader on Wednesday.
