Men's Soccer Battles to 2-2 Draw With Slippery Rock on Senior Day

Alexzander Toto and Josh Sollars scored to give Pitt-Johnstown a 2-1 lead in the second half, as the Mountain Cats battled to a 2-2 PSAC Western Division tie against Slippery Rock on Senior Day. The tie moved Pitt-Johnstown to 1-9-2 overall and 0-6-1 in conference play this season.

Slippery Rock struck first, in the ninth minute, when Alex Plimmer scored in the low left corner of the net to give the Rock a 1-0 lead.

Toto responded for the Mountain Cats in the 29th minute, scoring on a penalty kick to knot the match at one apiece. Toto would then give an assist to Sollars, who gave Pitt-Johnstown the lead in the 64th minute.

The Mountain Cats would hold that lead until the closing minutes, when Shaun Spencer tied the score again in the 87th minute. Neither team would score again after that point, setting the final score at 2-2.

PJ Derksen played all 90 minutes in goal for Pitt-Johnstown, making seven saves and allowing a pair of goals on 16 shots. Aly played the first 88 minutes at goalkeeper for the Rock, making five saves and also allowing two goals on 12 shots.

Slippery Rock moved to 4-7-2 overall and 2-4-1 in conference play.

At halftime, Pitt-Johnstown recognized this year's seniors. These were Mario Abadir, Adan Cabrera-Perez, Jerel Joseph, Alek Laurento, Brock Loevlie, Mitch Snowden, Evan Ulrich, and Gio Valforte.

The Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team will travel to Erie to face Mercyhurst on Saturday, October 22nd at 1:00 p.m.
